This pair of mittens is featured in my book: Friendship Mitten Book - Techniques for Knitting & Designing Latvian Mittens published in September, 2023.

Each of the 20 designs in my book were named for a friend. “Monica” is design #15 and includes instructions on how to make the Latvian Braid.

To make these, I used TINES yarn - a yarn sourced in Latvia. One could also use Hea 7/2 (from Estonia), Rauma, or Satakieli.

The mittens are sized for a medium hand, producing an 8” mitten in circumference once blocked.

These fingerless/flip-top mittens are perfect for cooler temps. Flip the top back and poke your thumb through the optional buttonhole to take that perfect photo of the fall leaves! Play around with colors and make them unique to your style.

For this pattern, I used the Daiquiri “Mixed Marianade Set” Jujubee Six Pack DK mini skeins 100% Superwash Merino from Marianated Yarns. These Jujubee Six Packs come in a variety of color-ways though, so make them unique to your style!
